کیوں محوِ مدح خوبیِ تیغِ ادا نہ تھے

ہر چارہ گر کو چارہ گری سے گریز تھا
ورنہ ہمیں جو دکھ تھے ، بہت لادوا نہ تھے

لب پر ہے تلخیِ مئے ایّام، ورنہ فیض
ہم تلخیِ کلام پہ مائل ذرا نہ تھے

تم بھی منہ چوم لو بے ساختہ پیار آ جائے

دے خدا اور جگہ سینہ و پہلو کے سوا
کہ برے وقت میں ہو جائے ٹھکانا دل کا

میری آغوش سے کیا ہی وہ تڑپ کر نکلے
ان کا جانا تھا الٰہی کہ یہ جانا دل کا

نگہ شرم کو بے تاب کیا کام کیا
رنگ لایا تری آنکھوں میں سمانا دل کا

انگلیاں تار گریباں میں الجھ جاتی ہیں
سخت دشوار ہے ہاتھوں سے دبانا دل کا

حور کی شکل ہو تم نور کے پتلے ہو تم
اور اس پر تمہیں آتا ہے جلانا دل کا

چھوڑ کر اس کو تری بزم سے کیوں کر جاؤں
اک جنازے کا اٹھانا ہے اٹھانا دل کا

بے دلی کا جو کہا حال تو فرماتے ہیں
کر لیا تو نے کہیں اور ٹھکانا دل کا

بعد مدت کے یہ اے داغؔ سمجھ میں آیا
وہی دانا ہے کہا جس نے نہ مانا دل کا
